Danbury Senior Living has always been about putting seniors in environments that allow them to thrive. And now the organization is garnering attention from the national media for its dedication.
Bob Pontius, the regional director of business development and marketing at Danbury Senior Living, recently appeared on the LTC Heroes podcast, the top-rated show about long-term care, to share what Danbury is doing to better inform older adults and set new standards in long-term care. You can watch the interview below.
“At Danbury, we want seniors to receive the best possible care,” he told Experience Care’s Victoria Arama. “And if we don't have a location or services that can help them, I'll put them on that journey to find where they need to be and what they need to do once they get there.”
The reality is, figuring out what kind of care is available or appropriate for an individual is a bit complicated. That’s why Danbury’s staff takes the time to walk seniors through their various options. “We want to help educate seniors so that they really understand the difference between Medicare and Medicaid, the nature of long-term care insurance, and the difference between an assisted living facility and a nursing home,” he said.
Pontius also highlighted “the Danbury difference,” or, the teamwork that makes a higher standard of care possible. “Our entire team, even our servers in the dining room and our maintenance guys, buy into what we do,” he said. “And when everybody rolls up their sleeves and dives in headfirst, it starts this vibe, this atmosphere, this environment, this culture in a building.”
This camaraderie and dedication is palpable and a strong indicator of the type of loving attention residents receive. “Seniors see this from their first visit,” Pontius said. “They feel it, understand it, and connect with it.” And it is that mindset that continues to drive Danbury’s staff to further improve the Danbury experience every single day.
