Senior Spotlight - Benedetto & Katherine Catalanotto

May 5, 2020

Benedetto, 97, and Catherine Catalanotto, 91, were introduced through writing wedding photoletters. Benny was from Italy, and Kay was from St. Louis, MO but moved to Akron, OH when she was 7. The two had never met in person, but soon their romance blossomed, and Benny proposed that Kay come to Italy and marry him. Kay waited until she turned 21 to travel to Italy to marry Benny, as her father would not have allowed it. The couple took their honeymoon in Rome. After getting married, Kay family returned to America and awaited the arrival of her new husband. Benny came over five months later and can remember being wowed by the beauty of America and Ellis Island. The rest is history. Benny and Kay have now been married for 70 years and live together at Danbury of Cuyahoga Falls. Together they have six children, four boys and two girls. Six children have turned into twelve grandchildren and several great grandchildren.

Prior to living at Danbury, the pair lived in Akron where they worked for over thirty italy tripyears. They visited Italy five times over the years along with their children so they could see where their father grew up. Eventually,  Benny and Kay knew they needed to find a living arrangement that would be safe and convenient as they aged. They found Danbury of Cuyahoga Falls and really enjoy all the entertaining activities. For example, Benny and Kay participated in the Soap Box Derby pictured below.
