Dear Resident and Families,
Over three weeks ago we shared with you the State of Ohio’s new coronavirus testing mandate for all assisted living communities. This mandate included an initial baseline blanket test for all residents and staff. Soon after this testing began it was put on pause because of problems with the testing method. Now the Ohio Department of Aging is launching a restart of this testing with a new implementation plan. This plan requires all Assisted Living staff to be tested with a short nasal swab every two weeks but does not include a baseline test of all residents. All Danbury communities will begin the test schedule starting in the next couple of weeks. Though residents are not participants is this cadence of testing we will continue to test any residents who are symptomatic instead.
As stated previously, this mandate will require a continuous, large volume of tests. Rather than bombarding you with test results, we will reserve communications to those that are relevant to your loved one. Below are the practices we will follow.
On to further news…Our communities are finishing set up for indoor visitation. We are eager to make this transition as the Fall weather is nearly upon us. As soon as the State of Ohio gives us the green light to start and the required guidelines to follow, we will swiftly communicate these with you.
We are still pursuing the petition we made to the Directors of the Ohio Department of Health and Ohio Department of Aging to consider a policy for an “Essential Caregiver.” This policy, if implemented, would allow one person per resident to freely visit in the resident’s room during restricted hours. We will give you a progress report if we make headway with our petition.
Our continuous gratitude goes to our terrific residents and our remarkable team members.
