Am I too old to set New Year's resolutions?

Am I too old to set New Year's resolutions?

I was chatting with a friend here at Danbury about the New Year and she told me she’s “too old” for a New Year’s Resolution! I asked “Why?” and she laughed and
responded with another question, “At my age, what am I supposed to change?”

  1. Laugh more. Studies have shown that laughing can reduce stress, enhance learning and reduce short term memory loss.
  2. Move more. Limited mobility shouldn’t stop you from exercise. Try water aerobics, yoga, Tai Chi, balance exercises.
  3. Eat Healthier. Many seniors assume that since they are “up there in age”, they will just eat whatever they want. But your diet impacts your energy, mood, weight, digestion and many other things- You are what you eat! You have to weigh the pro’s and con’s of not monitoring your diet at any age.
  4. Be your own cheerleader. Anytime you take positive steps or actions toward your goals, even just a little bit, remember to reward yourself! Be kind and appreciative to yourself in all of your self-talk, and it will go a long way to improving your confidence and outlook on life!

As we enter yet another New Year, be sure to set some sane and attainable goals, let us know how we can help- downsizing to a resort-like community may be the best one!
