This Has Been A Tough Year For Seniors. How Can I Help?

2020 has been a wild ride for all of us, especially for our seniors! They have spent their lives working towards a retirement to spend how they like, only to have 2020 tell them “Don’t do this! Don’t do that!” Many people have asked me over the last few weeks, “Bob, what can we do to help?”

Here are a few things for you to do for the seniors in your life for this Holiday Season.

  1. Send a handwritten note. Or a drawing from your children. Adding a personal touch to a note by writing it yourself sends a special message to your loved one.
  2. Virtual Visits. Children are a joy to their grandparents and great-grandparents. Encourage them to bring a holiday book to read together, sing some special holiday songs.
  3. Play games on a smartphone together.  Do they love Scrabble? Try Words with Friends. How about FlipFlop Solitaire? There are many free multi-player games for mobile devices that are a great way to stay connected.
  4. Be a volunteer or make a donation to their favorite charitable organization in their name. During the Holidays, many retirees love to volunteer at local charities, but are unable this year. Maybe you and the kids can fill their shoes?
